Shiva Triology is a set of three books, The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras. Documented by Amish Tripathi, a young banker turned author from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, these books revolve around a fictional character named Shiva.

The Immortals of Meluha (Shiva Trilogy)

This is the first part of Shiva Triology and portrays a thrilling story about a barbarian warrior named Shiva, who is given the responsibility to protect the empire of Meluha from dangerous intruders. This mythological novel is fast-paced, and focuses on duty, love, principles and more.

The story starts with how Shiva lands up in Meluha, the astounding city created of Lord Rama and ruled by Suryavanshis. In the city of Mehula, Shiva ends up drinking the Somrus which majestically turns his throat blue. This miracle then makes the locales believe that this warrior in their fabled savior Lord Shiva, popularly known as the Neelkanth. Daksha, the king of Suryavanshis then requests Shiva to help them in destroying the dangerous wars and terror attacks carried out by the Chandravanshis. The brave warrior gets enraged and declares full war on the Chandravanshis. Readers will find this mythological fantasy to be gripping and exciting. Questions about Shiva’s duty, destiny, and karma arise throughout the book. The author has written a book that is adventurous, mystifying, and captivating, but at the same time he also has thrown light onto the subjects of what is evil, and who is truly a hero.

This page-turner is a treat for readers who enjoy history, fantasy, and adventure. The Immortals of Meluha received good reviews from leading newspapers, and was a bestseller within its first week of release.

The Secret Of The Nagas (Shiva Trilogy)

The Secret of the Nagas is second book from the Shiva Triology. This book portrays how the Suryavanshis are besieged by the Chandravanshis and their allies, the Nagas. Shiva agrees to lead the Suryavanshis against their enemies. Between, he also falls in love with Sati, the beautiful princesses of Meluha and gets married to her.

The first book ends with Shiva observing a Naga who is stalking Sati. In The Secret of The Nagas, Shiva, who has chased the Naga away is looking for clues to his identity. He finds a few coins left behind by the Naga, and discovers the coins belong to the land of the Brangas. So Shiva, Sati, and a retinue of their followers travel to Kashi, where there is a community of Brangas. They want to learn from these people any information they could give on the Nagas.

Shiva learns about the reason behind the alliance of the Brangas and Nagas and decides to travel to Branga by ship. Sati remains at Kashi to oversee the problems of the community there. As The Secret of the Nagas proceeds, both Shiva and Sati, separately, discover many startling secrets that have profound effects on their lives. The revealed secrets affect their relationships with those around them, and eventually, when they meet, it also affects their relationship with each other.

The Oath of the Vayuputras (Shiva Trilogy)

The Oath of the Vayuputras is the final book of the Shiva Trilogy. In the earlier books of the trilogy, Shiva finds out that the Nagas are not his enemies and joins hands with them to reach the root of all evil. This book will have answers to ‘The Neelkanth’s’ questions about his fate, the choices he made previously and karma.

Further, in the concluding book of the trilogy, Shiva reaches Panchavati, the capital of Naga where he will come face to face with his greatest enemy. Will he win the battle over his wicked enemies, who are out to destroy him and his legacy?

The Oath of the Vayuputras will also reveal the reason of Shiva’s close friend Brahaspati’s disappearance and reappearance at the end of the second book, The Secret of the Nagas. Further, the relationship between Daksha, the king of Meluha and the mysterious temple priests will also be exposed in this last part of the trilogy. Shiva seeks helps from the Vayuputras in the quest to conquer all evil.

The great warrior will encounter the real intentions of some characters he deemed to be close to him. Some new characters will add that extra vitality to the entire plot, especially Shiva’s greatest enemy whose name sends shivers down the spines of many great warriors.
An interesting journey of a warrior who is turned into a God by his followers because of his deeds and war against the evil, this book is sure to have its readers’ full attention. A good read which will make one reflect on their actions, this book like the two earlier books of the trilogy focuses on philosophy, religion and the never ending battle between the good and the evil.

The Shiva Trilogy has become the fastest selling book series in the history of Indian publishing, with 1.7 million copies in print and over Rs 40 crores in sales. Forbes India has ranked Amish #85 in the 2012 Celebrity 100 list.
