MOTO G, the latest offering from the Motorola stable is an attempt to at least remain competitive in this market which has a sizeable influx of Chinese phone manufacturers. The Moto G has somewhere lost its spot as the sub-Rs. 15,000 top in terms of raw specifications, but the brand value keeps the customers coming back.

The Moto G Turbo edition comes with a 1.5 GHZ Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB RAM and 16 GB of Internal Storage (Expandable to 32 GB). It has a 5′ IPS LCD Screen. It has a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. Weighing in at 155gms, it is 11.6mm thick.

Moto G Turbo Edition Design & First Look

The Turbo edition derives many aspects from its predecessors. The standard version has a grey-blue rear panel, with a rubbery finish for a solid grip, but with a slight twirl to the previous straight ribbed pattern. This makes the phone really attractive & well-built. The panel comes into play to ensure that the Moto G lives up to its IP67 certification, which is for water and dust resistance. There are rubber inserts on the underside which form seals around the Micro-SIM and microSD slots. The arrangement of all other components is similar to the earlier versions.

Moto G Turbo Edition Display

The screen of Moto G Turbo is a good 5′ one with 720p resolution offering a 294ppi and impressive 16M colors. While other phones of the same range are offering Full HD option, the 720p with 16M colors renders colors that are rich & vibrant. It is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which ensures the rugged aspect of the phone.

Moto G Turbo Edition Hardware & Performance

The Moto G Turbo phone is powered by 1.5 GHZ Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 as the GPU, which is the reason for the phone’s “Turbo” tag. The changes do look significant and somewhat feel in reality too, but not too much. Internal storage is at 16GB which can be extended to 32 GB. Performance is generally smooth on this device with no noticeable lags. High-end games can be played with little to no lags. The sound & audio call quality is very nice and crisp and from the speakers too.

Moto G Turbo Edition Camera

The Moto G Turbo’s rear camera is 13 MP with AF & dual-LED (dual tone) flash which is competent. The front is a 5MP shooter. Both cameras have auto HDR mode and can record unto 1080p at 30fps. The Camera takes good picture in day-light and good lit surroundings. Images show vibrant and rich colors. Low-Light conditions show noise and aren’t stable.

Moto G Turbo Edition Software Experience

The Turbo edition comes with an Android 5.1.1 with an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. No major UI customizations except a few tweaks- most notably the Moto Display feature which shows notifications when you pick the phone up or it detects motion. Also, you can flick your wrist twice with the phone in standby to launch directly into the camera app, or shake sideways twice to turn on the torch. The UI is kept as clean and neat as possible with all the necessary features like app drawer, the minimalistic drop-down menu, the stacked card-style multitasking.

Moto G Turbo Edition Battery Life

Battery is of 2470mAh and with the specs, it is ably matched to last for a good long time. The battery supposedly lasts for a good 16-17 hours on moderate use and 10-12 for heavy use.

Moto G Turbo’s fast charging solution is another great advantage. The phone comes with a Turbo charger that can fill its 2470 mAh battery from 0 to 100 per cent in flat one hour and is also said that the phone can last for 2 hours on 15 minutes of charging.

Conclusion

All-in-all, Moto G Turbo, a revised version of the Moto G is a good variant given its price tag and the bumped up specs. The neat and clean experience is an attribute to customer retention.
