Lenovo announced four new smartphones, among which was the Lenovo PHAB Plus, half phone and half tablet. The first impression is that of being an uncanny resemblance to the iPhone 6 and the impressively thin-slim design of the Lenovo PHAB Plus. By stressing on the Screen and Audio Quality, Lenovo, with the PHAB Plus, have made it clear that it’s an entertainment-focused device: a hybrid device designed for people who spend more time playing games and watching videos than talking on the phone.

Lenovo-PHAB-Plus-review

The Lenovo PHAB plus sports a massive 6.8′ FULL HD IPS, 10-point multi-touch Screen bundled with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with 1.5GHZ Qualcomm MSM8939 Octa-Core Processor, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB of Internal memory, Dual SIM (GSM+GSM)(Expandable unto 64GB), 13 MP rear camera with dual tone flash and a 5MP front camera, a 3500mAH battery all at a competitive tag of Rs. 17,999/-.

Lenovo PHAB Plus Design

With a 6.8 inch screen, the Lenovo PHAB plus is simply enormous, but impressively slim at 7.6mm. The looks of the phone, right from the two screws flanking the microUSb port, to the antenna positioning and the curved sides, makes it a complete clone of the iPhone 6. The Phab Plus weighs 229g which is a lot for a phone. The power and volume buttons are on the right which are almost unreachable due to the massive size of the device. The big size does make it awkward to carry around or make calls or put it out consciously in the public.

Lenovo PHAB Plus Display

The massive 6.8 inch of the Lenovo PHAB Plus comes with a full HD IPS 10-point multi-touch capacitive touchscreen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution which as a pixel density of 323ppi which does a pretty decent job. The punchy color reproduction is a key thing for good color visualization.

Lenovo PHAB Plus Hardware & Performance

Given its price, the Lenovo PHAB Plus comes loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip and an integrated Adreno 405 GPU with 8 cores running at 1.5 GHZ each. There’s 2 GB of RAM with 32 GB of on-board storage. The device performs well without any distinct lag & is very responsive, though it struggles on the graphics processing side with its choppier frame rates. Owing to its large screen and good color reproduction, it stood out nice in terms of gaming and viewing purposes for which it was intended.

Lenovo PHAB Plus Camera

The Lenovo PHAB Plus sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front shooter. The camera interface is not the stock Android one, but comes with a wide degree of shooting modes that consist of HDR, Smart Reader, Action, Night, and Panorama. Photos looked great and night shots were pretty decent as well. However, on zooming the photos they wouldn’t look great. Going over 1080p for recording the quality was grainy and noisy.

Lenovo PHAB Plus Software Experience

Lenovo has mostly kept things stock on PHAB Plus, which is a good thing for keeping it simple. Lenovo PHAB Plus runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. To make navigation easier, there’s the “Wide Touch” which is basically a floating shortcut which can be repositioned in the screen as per the user’s liking.

Lenovo PHAB Plus Call Quality & Battery Life

Lenovo PHAB Plus offers a decent and acceptable call quality though it could have been better. The device has a 3500mAh battery which could have been better considering the pumped up specs in the phone & the large screen size. The phone performed for an average of 6 hours and took around 3.5 hours to be fully charged.

Conclusion

Lenovo PHAB Plus is set to make a niche for those customers who want bigger screens for their enhanced viewing pleasure. Plus this is a tablet that allows you to make calls which is definitely going to attract customers. However, its bigger size could also be a deterrent to many size-savvy youngsters.
